Vanilla Chiweenie is a flirtatious little girl and has already taught Thor Boxer Puppy the habits I did not want him to have. He is crawling all over her and playing roughhouse style, biting her ankles, growling and chasing her. She apparently loves it, little flirt that she is. When I get him away from her, Vanilla runs right over to tease him again. I am doing my best to keep them separated before somebody gets hurt, but Vanilla's crate (dropped off with her) is nearly too small for her.
Vanilla is a four-day guest in our house and has been through one heat a few months ago. To my knowledge she is not spayed. She needs to be. Thor will be neutered as soon as he is big enough. Brooke Border Collie, the eldest, was spayed before she came to live with me five years ago.
Neutering your dogs is less costly and much easier than raising a litter of pups and a lot easier than confining a bitch while in estrus.
Fewer unwanted pups = fewer homeless dogs.
